May I know who or what was your inspiration in writing the fourth book of Just Say Yes series: Running Away?
Jen: I didn’t really have an inspiration, per se, but when I finished Andy and Zoey’s story, I felt that I left Jeremy a bit short-changed in the love department. Everyone else was paired off throughout the first three books except for him. When I was preparing to work on book three for publishing, I decided to change up the Epilogue to include a small tidbit for Jeremy. The epilogue for book three shows his sister Zoey at a family party reminiscing a bit about how far her life had come. She gives a small run down of what everyone is doing. Her friends, family, etc. I decided then to write him his own book, so I left it with a bit of a cliffhanger for him, as in “where did he go and what’s he doing?”
Did you experience the same kind of thing Teagan/Jeremy has been through?
Jen: No, not at all. I’ve been married for 17 years and never had any crazy ex issues.
Can you tell us more about the cover of Running Away, and how did you come up with it as well.
Jen: To me, covers speak a thousand words. I always choose my own cover photos to represent a part in the book. With Running Away, as soon as I saw the picture, I fell in love with it. With some creativity from my cover artist, she removed the flower headband the woman had been wearing originally and changed the color of the model’s hair to Teagan’s fiery red. The bad part was, I had no scene in the book that fit the cover photo! So, I wrote one in. The scene takes place where Jeremy and Teagan are on their way to meet her grandmother and they stop at the small lake. I’ll just leave it at that to avoid spoilers. Continue reading
