Review Policies

Here’s an outline:

a. Introductory Note

First and foremost, I would like to inform you (my fellow reader), that I’m not a pro in terms of writing critical book reviews. I created this blog in order to express my emotions and thoughts about a certain book or any topics under the sun. When we love a particular story, or a novel perhaps, we’re looking for someone or rather a ‘medium’ to convey these ideas and to voice it out from our minds, right?  I suddenly realize that blogging anything about books is a happy, perfect place for me. (next to IG) 😀 ♥

Here’s my schematic pattern (format) for my book reviews

a. What's the story all about

This query includes the synopsis of the book. Sometimes I state the synopsis in my own words but usually, I copy the synopsis from Goodreads (don’t worry, I always include links and sources in my blog because it’s not right to plagiarize) 🙂

b.About the author

It speaks of the Author’s life, his/her interest, and everything you could think of from an author. I usually describe and introduce the authors by my own words (depending on the information I acquired about them), but if facts are too limited, I copy them (and include the primary source –one I’ll never forget) 🙂

c.What do i think

This is the content, the gist point of my critical reviews, my thoughts about the cover of the book,  the emotions I’ve felt before and after reading the book. This is the fun part (for me), because here, I am free to express my ideas and general thoughts about the book (please be informed that I’m honest with my write-ups) 🙂

And last is my Closing Remarks.

Choice of Books

When there’s always an opportunity for me to go inside a bookstore or booksale, or every time when I was driven into these places, I always look for the book covers. When it looks pleasing and promising to my eyes, I couldn’t get my hands off of it, especially when the story is really worth reading. I also look for the story premises. And if it’s catchy or rare, I would definitely buy it.

I enjoy these genres:

  • Young Adults
  • New Adult
  • Contemporary Romance
  • Rom-Com themes
  • Dystopian (or Post-apocalyptic)
  • Sci-Fi

I am also open to read other types of books or any genres I haven’t heard of. 🙂 I am also open to receive digital ARC’s (in ePub format and .MOBI). I also accept physical copies if you’d like to give one, and that would be so super-awesomesauce. 😀

As what I have said earlier, I’m being honest with my book reviews. If I didn’t like the story, I’d probably say it, and state the reasons how and why the book isn’t appealing and good for me. My reviews are precise and very detailed (I also include my reactions, sometimes). Quotable quotes from a particular book is also included in order to give a dramatic effect to those who will read it and of course to make it look real nice.

Since I’m very new to these things, I’d like to keep my reviews short, simple, and truthful. Also, I refrain myself from using highfalutin (and very, very deep) words so that everyone can relate and they can get what I am really pointing out.

Reading Pace

I admit that I’m not a fast-reader, and not a slow-reader either (just in middle part haha). It really depends on the book that I’m reading. If the story is catchy and all, maybe I can finish it in a day or two. My reading session depends on what I’ll be doing for a certain day, if I’m not busy customizing this blog,  or writing an article outside of the box, OR if I’m feeling well enough, I can focus on my reading-sesh.

As for the authors who are requesting for a book review and provides a deadline — well I can finish it before the deadlines (don’t worry). Everything comes with a ‘Time Management’ 🙂

d. Rating assessment

I am using empty and full HEARTS for rating instead of stars. Stars are too mainstream, and I hate mainstreams (LOL).

♥♥♥♥♥ – A hearty FIVE! It means I ABSOLUTELY love the book, no but’s, no if’s. Explanations are provided in my review. ♥_♥

♥♥♥♥♡ – Four hearts: means I love/like the story, but there are flaws, it’s like something’s missing, but I still love it. 🙂

♥♥♥♡♡ – Three: Half like/half not. It means I saw too many flaws and that it needs an improvement. There are some parts that I like (but these are the little parts of the story… LOL)

♥♥♡♡♡ – Two hearts: it means that I didn’t like it at all. And I’m just kind enough to give two hearts… because I’m being nice. 🙂

♥♡♡♡♡ – DON’T READ IT!

♡♡♡♡♡ – Empty hearts. Oooh, good thing I’m being nice, and I haven’t read a book that deserves this kind of rating. hahaha

E. Discussion – Bookversation

Happy reading everyone! And thank you (my fellow reader) for making it here at the end of my not-so-long-speech. ♥

PS: I write to express, not to impress
