I just wanted to thank Reg of She Latitude for tagging me! 🙂 ❤

Here’s the overall summary of the books I’ve read this year:

BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2015

18267071

I was picking at random actually, then I ended up reading this one. And it did not disappoint me. However, this book really deserve a 5-star-rating, because of its excellent story plot, it is simply AMAZING. I never thought that I’ll get hooked with the story and also with the characters. It’s a fast-pace reading, yes. There are no boring or dull parts (for me) at all. Each chapter will make your heart turn loop-de-loops. It’s a must-read. You better try it guys. It convinced me about the ‘reincarnation thing’. It’ll teach you some moral lessons and you’ll learn the essence of a real, heartfelt friendship. Aw ♥

The Summer of Letting Go

BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2015

“She’s finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch. Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible. In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam’s life.” Goodreads

Here’s the thrilling sequel to Shatter Me Series written by Tahereh Mafi. Actually, this is my most favorite book from the Shatter Me series. I couldn’t remember the exact parts of the story, but I can still feel Warner’s character. I ended up liking him here in this book. (OMG, I want to re-read this!)

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO

Library-of-Souls-by-Ransom-Riggs

“The adventures that began with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and continued with Hollow City comes to a thrilling conclusion with Library of Souls.

Like its predecessors, Library of Souls blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography.” Goodreads

I haven’t read the first and second book, but I’m really curious about this book since I’m a fan of horror/thrilling movies and story plots. Now that Ransom Riggs launched the third book, I wanted to read all these three – sooner or later. This book was definitely odd and peculiar.

Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #3)

MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

frankieprestocover

“This is the epic story of Frankie Presto—the greatest guitar player who ever lived—and the six lives he changed with his six magical blue strings. The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto is a classic in the making. Heartrending and inventive, Albom’s latest is infused with the message that everyone joins a band in this life—and that music, like love, has the power to affect us all” Goodreads

Hands up for Mitch Albom fans! *meeeee* He’s one of my favorite authors and somehow his books are one of the reasons that lead me into this bookish world. I’m so excited after hearing the news and updates that he will be releasing a new book this November. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!

The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto: A Novel

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

I’m telling you why we broke up, Ed. I’m writing it in this letter, the whole truth of why it happened. Min Green and Ed Slaterton are breaking up, so Min is writing Ed a letter and giving him a box. Inside the box is why they broke up.” Goodreads

I always get a glimpse of this book in some bookstores, and I was so intrigued about its story, and the book cover as well. My sis and I bought a hardbound copy, and we’re both impressed about its cover design. Inside, it contains colorful, graphic photos that will surely capture one’s attention. I thought maybe, I will like this book, but certainly, it wasn’t. My expectations were turned down as soon as I’m done reading it. So yes – this book is a big no, NO for me.

Why We Broke Up

BIGGEST SURPRISE

“In the near future, birthright theft is on the rise, a vast network of dealers offering desperate buyers the chance to steal a more desirable next life. Their power and influence is absolute, with little standing in their way. However, unexpected anomalies in the process endow unique abilities to their victims who, once identified, are offered one chance – to save our world or destroy it, one Unborn child at a time.” Goodreads

I categorized this book as one of the ‘biggest surprise’ because its story was truly astonishing, and the premise was quite new to me. I’m amazed about how it was written. If you’re curious about this book, you might as well check my review about this 🙂

Unborn (The Birthright Theft Series Book 1)

FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)

9781476753188_hr

COLLEEN HOOVER! – Yes, another author that was added to my favorites! Maybe Someday is one of my recent favorites. The way she ended her books really got me. She’s known for her unexpected plot twists, and I like her writing style. I am so happy that I met her and hugged her, and talked to her this year. (Check out my CTCinPH event)

Ugly Love is one of her recent best-selling novels. It made me laugh, made me cry, made me feel like there are butterflies in my stomach, it made me feel pain… all because of the words or phrases or sentences that Colleen Hoover used in writing this story. It affected me so much to the point that I was crying all throughout.

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

‘Every single lifetime, I’ll choose you. Just as you have chosen me. Forever.’ Goodreads

DANIEL GRIGORI! I’m so freakin’ in love with Daniel. He’s so sweet, charming, and gentleman, and I don’t know how I’m going to describe this fallen angel, he’s just perfect! And geez, his mesmerizing violet eyes (violet is my favorite color) *faints* I can’t wait for the movie adaptation next year (2016)!

Passion (Fallen, #3)

NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER

Screenshot_2015-10-13-18-30-49

An empty-nested southern woman has her life turned on its head after an encounter with a young student from halfway around the world. Jill Edwards is just now learning the true definition of an empty nest. With her only child deployed in Iraq and her husband always gone on business, she finds herself often alone and awfully bored. Worse, it’s getting harder and harder for Jill to relate to the other housewives of Faithville, the little Christian college town she calls home.”

I love Jill Edwards character so much. Based from what I’ve said in my recent review about this book, the protagonist character is a bold and brave one. Those qualities I’ve found in her are one of the things I admired the most. This book will be released on October 15, and you guys should read this!

Return to Me

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

18462463

“Fate intervenes twelve years later and their paths intersect once again. All three will question whether the heart is truly capable of dividing and being divided; each will decide whether it matters who you loved first or who you love last. Together they will learn that in the end, there can always only be one.” Goodreads

There are lots of stories that made me cry, but this book in particular, is one of the best. I couldn’t stop myself from crying, my tears kept on falling, and different emotions were flooding my heart the moment I finished reading this second book. It actually inspired me in every way possible, it made me think about my love life, about our struggles, our fights and the unending love we shared. I just hope that we’ll also have a happy ending *sighs*

His Wounded Light (The Light in the Wound, #2)

FAVORITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION THAT YOU SEEN THIS YEAR

images

“One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.” Goodreads

Insurgent, because I couldn’t think of any book-to-movies that I watched this year. I was thinking of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, by which I haven’t read the book (but I already watched the movie). 🙂 Even if the story wasn’t the same from the book, I like how they execute the film, I love the special effects, and the way the actors portrayed their characters. All in all, it was excellent. FOUR ♥ 🙂

Insurgent (Divergent, #2)

FAVOURITE REVIEW YOU’VE WRITTEN THIS YEAR

highresmhaobhcover

“Even though Aysel and Roman have nothing in common, they slowly start to fill in each other’s broken lives. But as their suicide pact becomes more concrete, Aysel begins to question whether she really wants to go through with it. Ultimately, she must choose between wanting to die or trying to convince Roman to live so they can discover the potential of their energy together. Except that Roman may not be so easy to convince.” Goodreads

I pour every noun, every word that I could think of for this book, because there’s a little part about it that I can relate to. It’s as if I were in the shoes of the protagonist. I’m just happy that Ayzel and Roman decided to fight for their lives, for not giving up, for realizing that life is worth saving. This book is a “super-thumbs-up” for me. Check out my review: My Heart and Other Black Holes ♥

My Heart and Other Black Holes

MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT (OR RECEIVED) THIS YEAR

516sxRXGkkL._AC_UL320_SR208,320_

“When Jesse Cain enters her life, she falls hopelessly in love with him, and every sadness she’s ever felt is washed away by his intensity and passion. But people change as they grow up. Things can never stay the same forever. Jesse and Isabel fight to stay together, determined to hold on to what they once had. Isabel wonders if a second love can ever be enough to make her forget her first.” Goodreads

I am so grateful that my sister bought this book so I could bring it to the CTCinPH event.  Brae is really great at drawing out every single emotion that was being held in every reader’s hearts. I get that hatred feeling towards a certain character then I ended up loving them afterwards. I really love the way my emotions transitioned from one feeling to another.

The Light in the Wound (The Light in the Wound, #1)

WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?

23734628

“Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story — but far, far more monsters” Goodreads

I want to read this along with the other Rainbow Rowell’s books (because to be honest, I haven’t read any of it.) Hopefully, I’ll get to read all of his books before the year ends. 🙂
